Little Rock, Ark. – Strong storms sweeping across southern Arkansas Monday could bring damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and quarter-sized hail, with the greatest impacts expected through the afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a slight risk (Level 2 of 5) for severe weather is in effect for the far southwest corner of the state—including Texarkana and El Dorado—while a broader marginal risk (Level 1 of 5) extends from Mena to Pine Bluff and east to West Memphis. Storms are moving northeastward, with the worst weather anticipated between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Cities like Hot Springs, Arkadelphia, and Little Rock may experience scattered power outages and travel delays due to wind-blown debris or downed limbs. While the tornado threat remains very low, the potential for brief spin-ups cannot be fully ruled out.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, avoid unnecessary travel during peak storm times, and monitor local alerts. If driving, remain alert to sudden gusts and possible ponding on roads.

The severe threat is expected to taper by early evening, but more storm chances may develop later this week. Stay tuned for additional advisories from NWS Little Rock.
