Little Rock, AR – Arkansas will turn noticeably colder as an Arctic Blast dips farther south from Monday, Dec. 1 through Friday, Dec. 5, ushering in a Cold December pattern highlighted by chilly breezes, below-normal temperatures, and light flurries possible in northern Arkansas.

According to the National Weather Service, early-week disturbances sliding through the central U.S. will bring a slight chance of flurries or light snow to northern counties late Monday into Tuesday. This includes areas near the Missouri border and the Ozarks. Accumulations should remain minimal, but patchy slick spots may form in higher elevations.

Most of the state—including Little Rock and central Arkansas—will experience dry but much colder weather, with lows in the mid to upper 20s and highs struggling through the 40s. Breezy northwest winds will enhance the chill, especially during the early-morning and evening hours.

NOAA’s 6–10 Day Temperature Outlook places Arkansas in a below-normal temperature zone for Dec. 1–5, reflecting the southern reach of the Arctic air mass dominating much of the central and eastern U.S. A few midweek impulses may generate additional clouds or isolated flurries across the northern tier.

While no major winter storm is expected, residents should prepare for a colder-than-normal week, with brief travel impacts possible in northern Arkansas where light snow may occur.
