Little Rock, AR – Arkansas residents can expect a hotter and drier start to October, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock.

According to the NWS outlook issued Friday, both the 6–10 day and 8–14 day forecasts show a strong probability of above-normal temperatures across the Natural State. That trend is expected to continue through mid-October, with Arkansas joining much of the central and eastern U.S. under warmer-than-average conditions.

Rainfall, on the other hand, is expected to be limited. The precipitation outlook shows below-normal chances for rain across much of Arkansas from October 2–10, raising concerns about dry soils and potential impacts on agriculture and outdoor activities. While some neighboring states along the Gulf Coast may see above-average rainfall, Arkansas is forecast to stay mostly dry.

The NWS notes that these conditions could mean extended periods of unseasonable warmth, fewer opportunities for natural soil moisture recovery, and potentially higher fire danger if dry conditions persist. Officials advise residents to stay weather-aware and prepare for elevated temperatures during the first half of October.
