Little Rock, Arkansas – Temperatures are climbing across the state, with highs pushing toward 90°F by this weekend and creating early-season heat stress concerns for anyone spending extended time outdoors.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, much of Arkansas will see temperatures running 20 to 25 degrees above normal through Sunday, with widespread “minor” heat risk expanding statewide. Afternoon highs are expected to reach the upper 80s to low 90s, including around 90°F in Little Rock, 91°F in Russellville, and near 92°F in parts of western and southern Arkansas.

Cities along I-30, I-40, and I-55 corridors—including Little Rock, Conway, Pine Bluff, and Jonesboro—will experience the most consistent stretch of above-normal heat. Overnight lows staying in the 50s and low 60s will limit cooling, especially in urban areas.

While this level of heat primarily impacts sensitive groups, it can still strain those without access to cooling or adequate hydration. Limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, drink water frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Dry conditions will continue through early next week before a cold front shifts winds and brings temperatures closer to seasonal levels. Additional updates are possible as heat levels peak this weekend.
