Little Rock, Arkansas – Rain chances are ramping up across Arkansas, with multiple rounds of storms set to bring flooding concerns and a midweek severe weather threat.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, the highest rain chances will develop through midweek and continue into the weekend, with many areas seeing a 50% to 80% probability of measurable rainfall. By Saturday night, parts of western and central Arkansas—including Fort Smith, Russellville, and Little Rock—have a 60% to 80% chance of receiving at least 1 inch of rain, with localized areas approaching a 30% to 50% chance of exceeding 2 inches.
The most significant severe weather risk arrives Wednesday, when scattered strong to severe storms could develop statewide. Damaging winds and large hail are the primary hazards, especially from Hot Springs and Little Rock east toward Pine Bluff and Jonesboro.
Repeated rounds of rain may lead to localized flooding, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas. Drivers along Interstate 30, Interstate 40, and Highway 67 should be prepared for water-covered roads during heavier downpours.
Residents are urged to monitor updates closely and avoid flooded roadways. Additional watches and warnings are likely as this active weather pattern continues through the week.
