Little Rock, Arkansas – Powerful wind gusts and a dangerous late-season cold snap are impacting Arkansas, with winds up to 50 mph early Monday followed by temperatures plunging into the teens by sunrise.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. CDT Monday across much of the state. Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph could blow down tree limbs, scatter unsecured objects, and trigger isolated power outages.

Cities including Little Rock, North Little Rock, Conway, Pine Bluff, Russellville, Hot Springs, Camden, Batesville, and Mountain Home may experience the strongest gusts during the early morning hours. Drivers on exposed roadways such as Interstate 40 near Conway and U.S. Highway 65 through central Arkansas should use caution, especially in high-profile vehicles.

At the same time, a Freeze Warning remains in effect until 10 a.m. Monday, with some locations falling to 15°F, creating a hard freeze capable of damaging vegetation and outdoor plumbing.

Another round of freezing temperatures is expected tonight. A second Freeze Warning will take effect at 10 p.m. Monday and continue until 10 a.m. Tuesday, with overnight lows dropping to around 19°F statewide.

Forecasters warn that the extended cold could kill crops and damage early spring plants, particularly after recent mild weather encouraged early growth.

Residents should secure outdoor objects, cover sensitive plants, and protect exposed pipes before temperatures plunge again overnight. Additional cold-weather alerts could follow if temperatures fall lower than expected into Tuesday morning.
