Little Rock, AR – A Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect across large portions of northern, central, southwest and northeastern Arkansas through 7 a.m. Saturday, with visibility dropping to one-quarter mile or less in many areas. The National Weather Service in Little Rock warns that travel may be hazardous along several of the state’s major interstates.

According to the Weather Service, the most heavily affected areas include sections of I-30, I-57, I-530 and portions of I-40, where dense fog has formed overnight. Drivers on rural highways, river valleys and low-lying terrain may experience rapidly shifting conditions, particularly before sunrise.

Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distance and use low-beam headlights only when traveling through fog. Officials also recommend allowing extra time to reach destinations or delaying travel if possible.

While dense fog remains widespread across central and eastern Arkansas, conditions are improving in west and northwest Arkansas, where drier air is filtering in behind a slowly advancing cold front. Light winds are helping disperse fog in those areas, though pockets of reduced visibility may remain.

Communities impacted include Little Rock, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, Batesville, Jonesboro, Arkadelphia, Clinton, Mountain Home, Russellville and El Dorado, as shown on the advisory map.

Forecasters expect gradual improvement after 7 a.m., but residual low clouds and patchy fog may linger briefly into the mid-morning hours.
