Ozark, AR – A New York truck driver was arrested near Ozark after Arkansas State Police seized more than 1,100 pounds of illegal marijuana during a routine traffic stop.
According to Arkansas State Police, the stop occurred Saturday morning around 10 a.m. along Interstate 40 near the 30-mile marker. Troopers pulled over a tractor-trailer for a traffic violation and, upon conducting a search of the vehicle, discovered three pallets containing 49 boxes of suspected marijuana.
Authorities reported the total weight of the marijuana came to approximately 1,135 pounds. The driver, identified as Kok Tse, 51, of Brooklyn, New York, was taken into custody at the scene.
Tse was transported to the Franklin County Detention Center and booked on felony charges including Trafficking a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. His bond status and upcoming court appearance details have not yet been released.
Images released by Arkansas State Police show stacks of cardboard boxes secured on pallets and stored inside the trailer. Another photo shared on social media showed the trailer strapped down on a flatbed as part of the evidence documentation.
Authorities have not disclosed whether the marijuana was intended for distribution within Arkansas or another state, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Saturday’s traffic stop underscores the importance of highway enforcement in curbing the interstate movement of illegal narcotics. ASP continues to encourage public cooperation and urges drivers to remain vigilant on Arkansas roadways.
