Arkansas Tornado Watch Extended Until 6PM Today Across 26 Counties

Little Rock, AR – A tornado watch initially set to expire at 4 p.m. has been extended until 6 p.m. today across much of central, north central, southwest, and western Arkansas as severe weather continues to pose a threat.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, Tornado Watch 97 has been extended due to continued atmospheric instability capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail across the region. The extended watch impacts 26 counties including Pulaski, Faulkner, Garland, and Saline in central Arkansas.

Counties under the watch also stretch into the north central area including Baxter, Boone, and Van Buren, and extend southwest into Clark, Pike, and Hot Spring counties. Western counties such as Johnson, Logan, and Polk are also included in the alert.

Residents in cities such as Little Rock, Conway, Russellville, Hot Springs, and Harrison are urged to remain alert and monitor local weather updates. Emergency management officials recommend having multiple ways to receive warnings and preparing to take shelter immediately if a tornado warning is issued.

Meteorologists advise the public to avoid unnecessary travel this evening and to stay tuned to local radio, television, or weather apps for real-time updates.

The tornado watch will remain in effect until 6 p.m. CDT. Forecasters continue to monitor storm development closely and may issue additional watches or warnings as the weather system progresses.
