Arkansas Tornado Warning: Severe Storm Threatens Hempstead and Nevada Counties Until 10:45 PM

Hope, AR – A tornado warning remains in effect for southeastern Hempstead and southwestern Nevada counties until 10:45 p.m. Friday as a severe thunderstorm moves through the area.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the storm, capable of producing a tornado, was located seven miles south of Hope at 10:27 p.m., moving northeast at 30 mph. Radar has indicated rotation, and the storm is also producing half-dollar-sized hail.

Residents in the path of the storm, including Rosston, Willisville, Bodcaw, Patmos, Sutton, and Mount Moriah, are advised to take immediate shelter. The storm poses a significant threat, with the potential for flying debris, damage to roofs and vehicles, and destruction of mobile homes.

Authorities emphasize the dangers of nighttime tornadoes, which can be difficult to see. Those in the affected areas should move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, avoiding windows. Mobile homes, vehicles, and outdoor areas are especially unsafe during this event.
