Shreveport, La. –  Triple-digit heat index values are baking the Four State Region Friday as a Heat Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m., with “feels-like” temperatures climbing as high as 109°F.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the advisory spans northeast Texas, southeast Oklahoma, southwest Arkansas, and parts of northern Louisiana. Actual air temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s, while oppressive humidity is pushing heat indices well over 105°F. Cities under the advisory include Texarkana, De Queen, Hope, Mount Pleasant, and El Dorado.

Shreveport, Longview, and Natchitoches are among the hotspots where residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and avoid peak afternoon sun. Those without air conditioning or adequate ventilation face increased risk of heat-related illness. Officials recommend checking on vulnerable individuals and never leaving children or pets in parked vehicles.

Some relief could arrive late Friday into the weekend as increased rain chances develop across Deep East Texas, South Central Arkansas, and northern Louisiana. Still, heat will remain a concern into Saturday.

⚠️ Heat Advisory remains in effect through 7 p.m. Friday. Additional alerts may be issued if temperatures remain elevated into the weekend.
