Little Rock, Ark. – Expect a sweltering stretch across Arkansas beginning Thursday as dangerous heat and thunderstorm chances return just in time for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, Thursday will bring a high near 93°F with heat index values as high as 103°F. A chance of thunderstorms will develop after 10 a.m., potentially impacting drivers along I-30 and throughout Pulaski County. Scattered showers could briefly cool off the region, but the reprieve will be short-lived.

Conditions grow even hotter Friday and Saturday, with daytime highs hitting 96°F and storms possible each afternoon. Rain chances stay near 30% through Saturday night, meaning outdoor events could face sudden interruptions. Southwest winds will offer little relief, generally staying under 10 mph.

Sunday brings a slightly higher chance of storms—40% during the day—with highs holding near 94°F. Monday will crank temperatures back up near 97°F, alongside continued afternoon storm risks. The pattern of hot, humid days and scattered late-day storms appears locked in through at least Monday night.

Safety Tips: Stay hydrated, limit midday outdoor activity, and avoid parking on grass due to fire risk. Drivers should remain alert for slick roads during brief downpours.

What’s Next: Heat and storm chances persist into early next week. Another summer weather alert may be issued if Monday’s heat index exceeds 105°F.
