LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas residents face a hot and stormy Friday as a cold front sweeps across the state, bringing the potential for damaging winds and hail. Afternoon highs will climb into the mid-90s in cities like Brinkley, Monticello and El Dorado before storms move in by late day.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, much of the state carries a marginal risk for severe weather through tonight. Forecasters warn of gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to the size of quarters, especially across central and eastern counties.

Rain and storm chances increase steadily from Friday afternoon into the evening, with Little Rock, Pine Bluff and Searcy seeing some of the highest coverage. The combination of heat and storms could disrupt evening travel along Interstates 30, 40 and 55. Power outages are also possible in areas where stronger winds develop.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, avoid outdoor activities late in the day, and secure loose items that could blow around in high winds. Drivers should use caution, especially if heavy downpours reduce visibility.

Storm chances taper off after midnight, but additional updates and advisories could be issued if stronger storms persist into Saturday morning.
