North Little Rock, Ark. – A Lonoke County man was arrested after leading Arkansas State Police on a high-speed chase in a stolen bus Thursday morning. The man, identified as Elvin Richard, 29, stole the motorcoach bus from Little Rock around 3 a.m.
The chase began around 7:40 a.m. when Troopers spotted the stolen bus on Interstate 40 east. Richard fled onto Highway 161, leading officers on a pursuit that ended at the Union Pacific Rail Yard in North Little Rock.
According to Arkansas State Police (ASP), Richard drove the bus into the rail yard at 1020 West Bethany Street. Troopers disabled the bus by shooting its tires, bringing the pursuit to an end. Richard was taken into custody without injury.
Richard was transferred to the Pulaski County Detention Center. ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the officer-involved shooting. Meanwhile, the Little Rock Police Department is handling the theft investigation.
