Carlisle, AR — Authorities in Arkansas have identified the suspect killed in an officer-involved shooting that occurred Wednesday afternoon along Interstate 40 near Carlisle. The deceased has been named as Felipe Millan-Gomez, 33, of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Millan-Gomez was wanted in connection with an armed carjacking and kidnapping that took place earlier in the week in Manistee County, Michigan. During the incident, Millan-Gomez allegedly threatened a woman with a handgun, forced her to drive, and later took control of her vehicle. Law enforcement considered him armed and dangerous.

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) received information about the suspect’s location and, along with officers from the U.S. Marshals Service, located Millan-Gomez on the interstate at approximately 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, about a mile west of Carlisle. Millan-Gomez reportedly exited his vehicle and brandished a weapon, prompting the officers to fire on him. Millan-Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.

The body of the deceased will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy.

ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is currently investigating the shooting. Once the investigation is complete, a report will be submitted to the Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, which will determine whether the use of lethal force was justified under Arkansas law.
