Little Rock, AR – Heavy rainfall and the threat of flash flooding will dominate central Arkansas’ spring weather into early Sunday, with a Flood Watch in effect through 7 a.m. Sunday across Pulaski County and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, periods of intense thunderstorms are expected from Friday night through Saturday night. Rainfall amounts between 1 and 3 inches are likely, with localized totals of up to 5 inches possible. Areas along the I-30 corridor, including Little Rock and North Little Rock, may experience street flooding, road closures, and hazardous driving conditions.

Drivers should avoid flooded roadways and monitor alerts from the Arkansas Department of Transportation (ARDOT). Flash flooding poses the greatest risk overnight Saturday, when storms may be strongest. The combination of saturated ground and repeated downpours will increase the chance of creeks and rivers breaching banks.

Saturday’s high will reach 72°F with southeast winds near 15 mph. Storm chances peak Saturday night with a 100% probability and a low around 46°F. Winds could gust up to 20 mph.

  • Tuesday: Clear and dry. High 65°F, low 44°F.
