Little Rock, Ark. – Strong thunderstorms capable of producing golf ball-size hail and 60 mph wind gusts will threaten much of Arkansas on Saturday, with risks continuing through at least Tuesday.
According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, an Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) for severe weather covers most of the state today, including cities like Little Rock, Fayetteville, and Hot Springs. The strongest storms may bring hail up to 1.75 inches in diameter, damaging winds, and a very low but non-zero tornado potential.
Nearly all of central and western Arkansas—from Texarkana and Fort Smith to Pine Bluff and Russellville—remains under this elevated risk. Power outages, tree damage, and hazardous driving conditions are possible during afternoon and evening hours.
Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, avoid unnecessary travel during storms, and secure outdoor items that could become projectiles in high winds. Ensure mobile devices are charged in case of power loss and have multiple ways to receive warnings.
The severe weather pattern is expected to persist across Arkansas through Tuesday, with daily thunderstorm chances and shifting risk zones. Updates from NWS Little Rock will continue as new alerts are issued.
