Little Rock, Ark. – Severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds and quarter-size hail are expected across much of Arkansas through 9 p.m. Sunday, with nearly half the state under a watch.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, Severe Thunderstorm Watch 322 includes 44 counties from Crittenden and Pulaski to Union and Ashley. The watch area spans central, southern, and eastern Arkansas, where storms could rapidly intensify this afternoon into the evening.

Cities including Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Hot Springs, and El Dorado are all at risk. Strong wind gusts up to 60 mph and isolated large hail may lead to downed trees, power outages, and hazardous travel on I-30, I-40, and I-530. Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor items and remain indoors during warnings.

This storm system comes amid rising humidity and afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s, creating volatile conditions for rapid storm development. Localized flash flooding is also possible in areas with repeated downpours.

The watch remains active until 9 p.m., but additional warnings could be issued earlier if cells become severe. Stay weather-aware and monitor local alerts for real-time updates.
