Van Buren, AR – Arkansas State Police (ASP) have seized a ton of narcotics in recent weeks…literally.
According to State Police reports a total of 1,100 lbs and 19 firearms during a series of traffic stops in June and July. It began on Tuesday, June 18, ASP stopped a rented Suburban near Van Buren, seizing 325 pounds of marijuana and over $25,000 in cash. Christian Nichols of Hopkinsville, Ky., and Giovanni Capozzi of Fresno, Calif., were arrested and charged with allegations of felony possession with intent to deliver.
According to ASP, on June 21, a traffic stop in Phillips County led to the arrest of Dallas Young of Poplar Grove, who was allegedly found with two firearms and various drugs.
On June 23, ASP stopped a Ford F-150 in Lonoke, discovering 682 pounds of THC products and 99 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms. Joshua Burgess and an additional suspect North Carolina were arrested on allegations. Later that day, Tyree Speed of Blytheville was arrested in Mississippi County after being allegedly found with 17 firearms and multiple loaded magazines.
On July 3, ASP stopped a Nissan Rogue in Crawford County, reportedly seizing 92 pounds of marijuana. Wenchao Zhen and Muayad Yasin of California were arrested on related charges.
All suspects face multiple felony charges.
