Shreveport, Louisiana – Severe storms will hammer parts of the Four State Region on Sunday, bringing damaging winds, large hail, and a rising risk of flash flooding along I-20 and into southwestern Arkansas.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, the most intense storms are expected from Sunday afternoon through overnight hours, primarily targeting areas in southeast Oklahoma, southwest Arkansas, and northeast Texas. The greatest threats include wind gusts over 60 mph, quarter-sized hail, and heavy rain capable of overwhelming roadways and low-lying areas.
Cities including Texarkana, Idabel, and El Dorado lie within zones of slight to moderate risk for both severe storms and flooding. Road conditions may deteriorate quickly, especially near poor drainage areas and river crossings. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roads and monitor local alerts.
Localized rainfall rates could exceed 2 inches per hour, prompting concerns for flash flooding similar to past spring events. Power outages are also possible due to wind damage and falling tree limbs.
Warnings will remain in effect through early Monday, with additional advisories likely if storm systems linger or intensify overnight.
