Tulsa, Okla. – Flood-prone roads in eastern Oklahoma, northwest Arkansas, and southern Kansas could be underwater through early afternoon as heavy rain continues to pound the region Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Norman, Tulsa, and Wichita, a Flood Watch remains in effect until 1 p.m. CDT for more than 40 counties across three states, including Tulsa, Muskogee, Fayetteville, and Wichita. Thunderstorms are producing locally heavy rainfall, with runoff likely to impact rivers, creeks, and low-lying roads.

In Oklahoma, areas along U.S. 69, Highway 412, and I-44 could see ponding and flash flooding. Communities like Claremore, Vinita, and Okmulgee should prepare for water-covered roads and possible delays. Arkansas cities including Springdale, Bentonville, and Eureka Springs may also experience flash flooding, especially in rural valleys and creeks.

Southern Kansas towns such as Wichita, Winfield, and Parsons have already seen elevated stream levels, and more rain could cause rapid rises. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roadways and monitor local alerts. “Turn around, don’t drown,” officials warn.

More storms are possible this afternoon. If rainfall intensifies, additional Flood Warnings could be issued.
