Blytheville, AR – A fast-moving storm capable of producing a tornado is racing through parts of Arkansas, Missouri, and Tennessee this morning, prompting an urgent Tornado Warning through 8:30 a.m. CDT.
According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, radar detected rotation near Lake City at 7:51 a.m. CDT. The storm is tracking northeast at 60 mph, with potential to produce damaging winds, flying debris, and structural destruction across the tri-state area.
Southeastern Craighead, northeastern Poinsett, and Mississippi counties in Arkansas are in the warning zone, along with southern Pemiscot and southeastern Dunklin counties in Missouri. Southwestern Dyer and northern Lauderdale counties in Tennessee are also under the threat.
Communities at risk include Blytheville, Steele, Etowah, Roseland, and Three Way. Residents should shelter immediately in a sturdy structure, away from windows and exterior walls. Mobile homes and vehicles are particularly unsafe in this situation.
This storm could cause power outages, tree damage, and road blockages. Those in the warning area should monitor NOAA Weather Radio or local alerts for updates. Emergency officials advise keeping phones charged and having flashlights ready in case of outages.
