Jonesboro, AR – A flash flood warning remains in effect until 3:30 p.m. CDT Saturday for several counties across northeastern Arkansas, southeastern Missouri, and northwestern Tennessee as severe thunderstorms continue to dump heavy rainfall over the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Memphis, between 2 and 4 inches of rain have already fallen across the region, with another 2 to 4 inches expected through the evening. Emergency management officials report numerous road closures and washed-out bridges in Greene County, Arkansas, where flash flooding has made several areas impassable.

The warning covers Clay, Craighead, Greene, Mississippi, and Poinsett counties in Arkansas; Dunklin and Pemiscot counties in Missouri; and Dyer, Lake, and Lauderdale counties in Tennessee. Key cities affected include Jonesboro, Paragould, Blytheville, Kennett, and Caruthersville.

Residents are urged to avoid flooded roads, heed local alerts, and remain indoors if possible. Flash flooding poses life-threatening risks, particularly in low-lying urban areas and near creeks and underpasses.

Officials advise drivers to “Turn around, don’t drown” and report flooding to local authorities when safe to do so. Stay tuned to local news and NOAA Weather Radio for updates.
