Little Rock, AR – Drivers across southern and western Arkansas are waking up to dangerous travel conditions this morning as freezing fog blankets multiple counties, reducing visibility to a quarter mile or less.
According to the National Weather Service offices in Little Rock and Shreveport, a Freezing Fog Advisory remains in effect until 7 a.m. CST Tuesday, December 9, 2025, for several counties including Garland, Clark, Hot Spring, Pike, Howard, Little River, Hempstead, Nevada, Sevier, Montgomery, and Polk, as well as McCurtain County in southeast Oklahoma.
Meteorologists warn that visibility may drop suddenly on rural highways and low-lying areas. Combined with subfreezing temperatures, the fog can form thin layers of ice on bridges, overpasses, and elevated roadways, making for slippery conditions during early morning commutes.
Travelers are urged to slow down, use headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles. Even a thin layer of ice can cause vehicles to slide, particularly on untreated surfaces.
Conditions are expected to improve after sunrise as temperatures rise above freezing and the fog dissipates.
