Jackson, MS – Residents across Mississippi, northeast Louisiana, and southeast Arkansas should prepare for strong winds on Wednesday as a wind advisory has been issued from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. CDT.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, southwest winds of 25 to 30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph, are expected. The advisory covers central, north-central, northwest, and west-central Mississippi, along with parts of northeast Louisiana and southeast Arkansas. Cities affected include Jackson, Vicksburg, Greenwood, and Greenville in Mississippi; Bastrop and Tallulah in Louisiana; and Lake Village in Arkansas.

Forecasters warn that unsecured objects could be blown around by the strong winds, and tree limbs may be knocked down, leading to potential power outages. High-profile vehicles, such as trucks and RVs, may experience difficulty on highways due to wind gusts.

Authorities urge residents to secure outdoor furniture, trash bins, and other loose objects to prevent damage or injury. Drivers, particularly those operating large vehicles, should use extra caution while traveling.

The wind advisory is set to expire by 7 p.m. Wednesday, but residents should stay updated with local weather reports in case conditions change. For emergency updates, check with local officials and the National Weather Service.
