Little Rock, Ark. – Dangerous heat will grip much of Arkansas through Sunday evening, with heat index values soaring to 105 degrees and raising the risk of heat-related illness across the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a heat advisory remains in effect until 8 p.m. Saturday and will resume from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The advisory spans a large portion of central, north-central, southeast, and southwest Arkansas, including major population centers like Little Rock, Pine Bluff, Hot Springs, and Jonesboro.

Residents in cities such as Conway, Searcy, Camden, and Monticello should limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours and stay hydrated. Emergency officials urge Arkansans to avoid prolonged sun exposure, wear loose, light-colored clothing, and check on elderly neighbors or anyone without air conditioning.

Heat-related illnesses like heat exhaustion and heat stroke can develop rapidly under these conditions, especially during outdoor work or activity. Early morning or late evening hours are safest for exercise or yard work.

The advisory may be extended if high temperatures persist into the workweek. Stay tuned to local updates and take precautions as oppressive heat continues through Sunday.
