Little Rock, Ark. – Arkansans from Sharp County to Pine Bluff are facing dangerous heat Friday, with heat index values soaring as high as 108° by mid-afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, a Heat Advisory remains in effect from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday for much of central, eastern, and southern Arkansas. Counties under alert include Pulaski, Garland, Faulkner, White, Saline, Monroe, Jefferson, and parts of the Ozarks like Independence and Sharp.

In Little Rock, outdoor workers and residents without air conditioning are especially vulnerable. The high humidity will make already hot temperatures feel even more extreme. In cities like Conway, Hot Springs, and Monticello, air-conditioned spaces are critical for safety.

Emergency managers urge residents to limit outdoor activity to early morning or after sundown. Hydration is key—drink plenty of water, wear light clothing, and check on older neighbors or those with health conditions. Signs of heat illness include dizziness, nausea, and confusion.

Temperatures will remain high through the weekend, and additional advisories may be issued if conditions persist.
