Little Rock, AR – The National Weather Service in Little Rock has issued a Freeze Watch covering much of Arkansas from Sunday evening through Monday morning, as a strong cold front brings the first widespread freeze of the season.

According to forecasters, temperatures are expected to drop between 20 and 30 degrees, with subfreezing conditions likely across central, eastern, western, and southern parts of the state. The cold snap will impact major cities including Little Rock, Conway, Pine Bluff, Hot Springs, Russellville, and Monticello.

The NWS warns that frost and freezing conditions could kill crops, sensitive vegetation, and potentially damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are urged to cover or bring inside plants, wrap exposed pipes, and let indoor faucets drip slowly to prevent freezing.

Meteorologists say this freeze marks a significant seasonal shift and could effectively end the growing season across large portions of the state.

Conditions are expected to moderate slightly by midweek, but cold mornings may linger into early next week.
