Little Rock, AR — Flood warnings remain in effect for several rivers across Arkansas, with minor flooding expected through the weekend. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock has extended flood alerts for the Fourche Lafave River, Black River, Cache River, and Little Missouri River, affecting multiple counties.
According to the NWS, the Fourche Lafave River near Houston in Perry County is expected to rise above flood stage late Thursday night, cresting at 29.0 feet by Saturday morning before receding below flood levels by early Sunday. State Highway 216 and surrounding low-lying areas near Harris Brake Lake may experience flooding.
The Black River at Black Rock is already above flood stage, with water levels forecast to peak at 22.0 feet on Saturday morning. Agricultural land in Lawrence, Independence, and Jackson counties is at risk, as well as minor flooding in Powhatan Community and Courthouse State Park. Pocahontas is also expected to see rising water levels, with a crest of 19.0 feet anticipated Friday evening before receding by Saturday afternoon.
In Woodruff and Jackson counties, the Cache River near Patterson is forecast to surpass flood stage early Friday, reaching 10.0 feet by Sunday afternoon. Portions of State Highways 37 and 18, as well as rural roads, could be affected.
Meanwhile, the Little Missouri River near Boughton, spanning Ouachita, Nevada, and Clark counties, is set to crest at 20.5 feet Friday evening, impacting pastures and low-lying areas.
