Arkansas Flood Alert: Fourche Lafave River Near Houston Remains Above Flood Stage Until Thursday Afternoon

Little Rock, AR – A flood warning remains in effect for the Fourche Lafave River near Houston, Arkansas, where minor flooding is occurring and forecasted to continue through Thursday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, as of 7:30 p.m. CDT Monday, the river was at 31.5 feet, above the flood stage of 25.0 feet. The river is expected to fall below flood stage by late Wednesday morning, continuing to recede to 14.3 feet by early Saturday afternoon.

Impacts include flooding of roads, particularly State Highway 216, as well as extensive flooding near Harris Brake Lake and the surrounding Wildlife Management Area. At a river stage of 32.0 feet, additional roads around the lake become impassable. Residents and motorists should avoid flooded areas and follow barricade instructions.

The National Weather Service urges caution, advising drivers not to attempt to cross flooded roads. The next update will be issued Tuesday evening at 8:45 p.m. CDT. For more information and to monitor river conditions, visit weather.gov.
