Little Rock, AR – A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for parts of eastern Arkansas as heavy rain inundates Monroe and Woodruff counties. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock issued the warning early Thursday morning, advising residents to remain cautious as flooding develops.

According to the NWS, Doppler radar detected between 1 and 3 inches of rainfall over the affected areas, with additional precipitation expected. Flash flooding is already occurring or anticipated shortly, impacting urban areas, small creeks, and low-lying regions.

Communities at risk include Brinkley, Cotton Plant, Fargo, Alfrey, and Zent, among others. Residents are urged to avoid flooded roadways and seek higher ground if necessary. The warning remains in effect until 8:30 AM CDT.

Emergency officials emphasize the importance of heeding flood safety measures. “Turn around, don’t drown” remains a critical message, as most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles attempting to cross water-covered roads.

Drivers and residents should monitor local news and weather updates for further developments. Additional rainfall could exacerbate the situation, prolonging hazardous conditions.
