Little Rock, AR – A Flash Flood Warning has been issued for parts of north central Arkansas, including Fulton, Izard, and Stone counties, as thunderstorms continue to produce heavy rain in the area.
According to the National Weather Service, between 1 to 2 inches of rain has already fallen in the region, particularly west of Salem and Mountain View. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected, which could worsen flooding conditions. Flash flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin shortly, with a warning in effect until 9:45 PM CDT.
The affected areas, including Cherokee Village, Mountain View, and Ash Flat, are seeing flash flooding on small creeks, streets, highways, and underpasses. Areas with poor drainage and low-lying regions are at the highest risk. Officials are advising residents to avoid flooded roads and to remember the life-saving message: “Turn around, don’t drown.”
Travelers in these counties should exercise caution, as flash flooding can quickly make roads impassable. Keep up-to-date with local warnings as conditions may change rapidly.
