A strong cold front is gripping Arkansas, plunging overnight temperatures into the teens and low 20s. Residents should prepare for freezing conditions tonight, especially in the northern regions. With clear skies expected, the drop in temperatures could lead to icy road conditions Thursday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, today’s high temperatures will barely reach the 40s in southern Arkansas and struggle to climb above freezing in the north. Tonight, low temperatures are forecasted to dip as low as 18°F in areas like Harrison, while Little Rock can expect a low of 23°F. Drivers are urged to exercise caution on major routes, including I-40 and I-30, as frost could reduce visibility and road traction.

The extended forecast shows sunny skies persisting through Friday, with highs in the low 40s. By Saturday, temperatures will rise slightly into the low 50s, but the region will see a 50% chance of rain late Saturday night, increasing to a 90% chance of showers by Sunday. Locally heavy rainfall is possible, though widespread flooding is not expected.

Residents should monitor weather updates and bundle up as this cold snap continues. Those traveling Thursday morning are encouraged to leave early and drive cautiously due to potential icy patches, especially in valleys and higher elevations.
