Arkansas Braces for Triple-Digit Heat in Southern Regions

Little Rock, AR – Arkansas residents should prepare for intense heat and scattered thunderstorms, particularly in the southern half of the state. The National Weather Service has forecasted triple-digit heat index values for southeast Arkansas, including cities like Monticello and El Dorado, where temperatures could reach up to 105°F and 102°F, respectively.

According to the National Weather Service Little Rock, these oppressive conditions will be less severe than earlier this week but will still pose significant risks. The heat index in Little Rock is expected to peak at 93°F, with the air quality index currently at 116, indicating unhealthy conditions for sensitive groups.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected throughout the day, providing some relief. The probability of precipitation varies across the state, with the highest chances in southern regions like Monticello and El Dorado, where precipitation probability is between 60-70%.

The upcoming weekend promises a mix of weather conditions. Saturday will remain hot with temperatures around 90°F, while Sunday sees a slight increase to 94°F under mostly sunny skies. Monday and Tuesday will experience cooler temperatures with highs in the mid-80s and chances of rain.
