Little Rock, AR – Arkansas residents should prepare for dangerous cold weather as an Arctic high-pressure system dominates the region through midweek. Wind chills could plunge into the single digits Monday night and remain frigid into Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock, temperatures Monday night will drop to 19°F with winds making it feel as low as 9°F. Tuesday’s high will reach 30°F, but wind chills will hover in the teens. Those traveling along I-40 and I-30 should exercise caution as frost may create slick conditions, especially during early morning commutes.

The cold snap will persist until a warming trend begins Wednesday, with temperatures rebounding to a high of 40°F under sunny skies. By Thursday, highs could reach 46°F, offering relief from the bitter chill. However, freezing overnight lows will still linger.

Residents are advised to bundle up, limit time outdoors, and protect pets from exposure. If driving, ensure vehicles are winter-ready. Spotter activation for severe weather is not anticipated at this time, but updates will be posted online as conditions evolve.

The extended forecast predicts partly cloudy skies into Friday, with mild highs near 50°F by the weekend. While no significant snow accumulation is expected, light flurries could develop in northern Arkansas.
