Shreveport, Louisiana – Gusty winds sweeping across the Ark-La-Tex Monday will give way to a sharp overnight freeze, with temperatures expected to fall into the 20s across Louisiana, east Texas, and southwest Arkansas by early Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. CDT Monday for much of the region. Northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30–35 mph could blow around unsecured outdoor objects and down small tree limbs.

Communities including Shreveport, Bossier City, Monroe, Natchitoches, Longview, Tyler, Texarkana, and Mount Pleasant may see the strongest winds during the day Monday. Drivers on major routes such as Interstate 20 between Shreveport and Monroe and U.S. Highway 59 through east Texas should use extra caution, especially in high-profile vehicles.

A much colder air mass will settle in overnight. The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Warning from midnight Monday night until 9 a.m. Tuesday across north Louisiana, northeast Texas, southeast Oklahoma, and parts of southwest Arkansas.

Temperatures could drop to 25–27°F across many communities, including Shreveport, Ruston, Marshall, Lufkin, and Magnolia, cold enough to damage crops and sensitive vegetation.

Residents are urged to cover outdoor plants, bring potted plants inside, and protect exposed pipes before temperatures fall overnight. The freeze threat will last through Tuesday morning, and additional cold weather advisories may be issued if temperatures trend colder than expected.
