Shreveport, LA – Residents across northern Louisiana and northeast Texas should prepare for possible severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and evening, according to the US National Weather Service Shreveport, Louisiana.
A Level 2 of 5 (“Slight Risk”) has been issued for much of the Ark-La-Tex, with the highest threat focused along and south of the I-20 corridor, including Shreveport, Natchitoches, Longview, and Ruston.
Forecasters warn that storms could bring damaging wind gusts over 60 mph, hail up to quarter-size or larger, and a brief tornado cannot be ruled out. The strongest storms are likely to develop during the afternoon and continue into late evening before tapering off overnight.
Residents are urged to monitor weather alerts closely, have multiple ways to receive warnings, and secure outdoor items that could be blown by strong winds.
