Shreveport, LA – Residents across the Ark-La-Tex are urged to prepare for severe weather Tuesday, as the National Weather Service (NWS) warns of damaging storms and potential flash flooding north of Interstate 20.
According to the NWS Shreveport office, a stronger disturbance will move into the region Tuesday afternoon, bringing threats of large hail, damaging wind gusts, and isolated tornadoes. The agency says the highest risks extend across northeast Texas, southeast Oklahoma, and southwest Arkansas, though all of north Louisiana remains under a severe weather outlook.
The flooding threat is also a concern. NWS forecasters report that roadway flooding and rising water in low-lying areas are possible, particularly in areas north of I-20. Rainfall may overwhelm storm drains and ditches, creating hazardous driving conditions by evening.
Severe weather timing is most likely from the afternoon through the evening hours, with multiple rounds of storms possible. Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, review severe weather safety plans, and avoid driving across flooded roads.
