Shreveport, Louisiana – A fast-moving fire threat is building across the Ark-La-Tex this morning, with dry air and gusty winds creating conditions that could allow flames to spread within minutes.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, elevated fire weather conditions will persist until 7 p.m. Thursday across northern and central Louisiana, East Texas, southern Arkansas, and southeast Oklahoma. Humidity levels are expected to drop as low as 30 percent, while south-southwest winds hold between 10 and 15 mph with gusts nearing 20 mph.
The risk stretches from Shreveport and Bossier City to Tyler, Longview, and Texarkana, where critically dry vegetation can ignite بسهولة and spread quickly. Rural areas near Natchitoches, Ruston, and El Dorado face an increased chance of rapid wildfire growth, especially along open fields and wooded roadways.
Emergency officials urge residents to avoid outdoor burning and any activity that produces sparks. Drivers should not park on dry grass, and cigarette disposal must be handled carefully to prevent accidental ignition.
These conditions remain in place through early evening, and additional advisories could be issued if winds increase or humidity drops further.
