Shreveport, Louisiana – Residents across the Ark-La-Tex region could see two rounds of severe thunderstorms today, with the first storms developing during the afternoon and another round possible after midnight.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, storms may begin forming during the mid-to-late afternoon and continue into the early evening, particularly across the Middle Red River Valley of southeast Oklahoma, southwest Arkansas and northeast Texas. The strongest storms could produce large hail and damaging wind gusts approaching 60 mph.

A second round of storms is possible after midnight, which could bring additional severe weather across areas including Shreveport, Texarkana, Longview, Tyler and El Dorado.

The primary hazards include large hail and strong winds, though forecasters say isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out if storms intensify. The highest concentration of storms is expected near the Interstate 30 and Interstate 20 corridors, where evening travel could be impacted by heavy rain and sudden gusts.

Residents are encouraged to monitor weather alerts throughout the afternoon and overnight hours and ensure multiple ways to receive warnings. Moving vehicles into covered areas and securing loose outdoor items can help reduce damage from hail and strong winds.

Storm chances will continue through tonight, and additional advisories or warnings could be issued as conditions evolve across the Ark-La-Tex region.
