Shreveport, Louisiana – Damaging wind gusts, flash flooding, and large hail threaten northwest Louisiana and surrounding states Monday as multiple waves of severe thunderstorms sweep through the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, storms from the west will intensify as they merge with an ongoing system already over the Four-State Region. The highest severe threat is expected through the morning and into early afternoon, with another round of storms possible late tonight into early Tuesday.
Shreveport, Ruston, Natchitoches, and Monroe sit within a Level 2 (Slight Risk) zone for severe storms, with areas like Longview and Texarkana under enhanced risk. Officials warn that poor drainage areas, particularly low-water crossings, could flood quickly under heavy rainfall. Some areas may see gusts strong enough to down trees and power lines.
Drivers are urged to avoid flooded roadways, and residents should charge phones and prepare for potential outages. Hail and high winds could also impact structures and vehicles parked outdoors.
Storm watches remain in effect across the Ark-La-Tex through late Monday, with updates expected overnight as new systems approach from the west.
