Shreveport, Louisiana – Heavy rain and a sharp temperature drop are expected across the Ark-La-Tex region Saturday night, with a 90% chance of showers and isolated severe storms as a cold front pushes through the area.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, thunderstorms will increase in coverage through late evening, bringing the risk of strong winds and brief downpours, particularly along and south of I-20. Areas including Texarkana, Hope, Longview, and Natchitoches may see brief gusty storms before the system exits by Sunday morning.

Roads such as U.S. Highway 59, I-49, and U.S. 84 could see standing water and slick conditions during the heaviest rainfall. While widespread severe weather is not expected, some stronger cells may produce wind gusts up to 40 mph. Motorists should avoid driving through ponded areas and be alert for reduced visibility after midnight.

Temperatures are forecast to drop rapidly after the front passes, with overnight lows ranging from the upper 20s in the north to the low 40s near the Louisiana state line. Lows could dip as far as 28°F near Broken Bow, with Shreveport likely to reach the upper 30s by dawn.

Storms will clear the region early Sunday, but colder-than-normal temperatures will linger through the rest of the weekend.
