Shreveport, La. – Another hot day is on tap for the Ark-La-Tex as afternoon highs climb into the lower to mid-90s across most of Louisiana, southern Arkansas, and northeast Texas. A slight break from the heat is possible in northern sections where temperatures will hold closer to 90.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon across McCurtain County, Oklahoma, and into northern sections of southwest Arkansas. Rain chances remain lower across central and southern Louisiana, where drier air will keep skies mostly sunny and temperatures in the 94–96 range.
Texarkana could see a 10 percent chance of storms, while areas farther north such as De Queen and Broken Bow may experience up to 30 percent coverage by late afternoon. The storms could bring brief downpours and gusty winds, though severe weather is not expected.
Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak heating hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors as heat indices climb above 95 in several locations.
The heat is expected to ease slightly midweek as additional rain chances expand southward. Updates from the National Weather Service will provide details on any new advisories.
