Flagstaff, AZ – A powerful winter storm is sweeping across northern Arizona, bringing up to 12 inches of snow, strong winds, and dangerous travel conditions through early Friday. Officials are urging residents to avoid unnecessary travel as roads are expected to become slick and hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service in Flagstaff, the storm will impact multiple regions, including the Mogollon Rim, White Mountains, and Kaibab Plateau. Snowfall will be heaviest late Thursday afternoon and evening, with gusty southwest winds between 40 and 55 mph causing blowing and drifting snow.

Forecast snowfall totals include up to 18 inches in Forest Lakes, 8 to 12 inches in Williams and Munds Park, and 6 to 8 inches in Flagstaff. The White Mountains, including Show Low and Pinetop-Lakeside, could see between 4 and 8 inches of accumulation.

Travel conditions will deteriorate rapidly, especially on bridges and overpasses, where ice buildup is expected. Motorists are advised to delay travel plans if possible and carry emergency supplies, including food, water, and a flashlight, if travel is unavoidable.
