Phoenix, Arizona – Arizona is entering a noticeable shift in weather patterns as above-normal temperatures settle in during the February 7–20 period, bringing a more spring-like feel to much of the state after recent winter variability.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, temperatures across Arizona are expected to trend above seasonal averages through mid-February. Lower desert communities, including Phoenix, the East Valley, and Yuma, are likely to see warmer daytime highs with mild overnight lows, while central and northern Arizona also experience a gradual moderation in temperatures.

While the overall pattern favors warmth, it will not be completely dry. Weak to moderate Pacific systems may move through the Southwest at times, bringing periodic chances for precipitation. In southern and central Arizona, this would primarily fall as rain, while higher elevations across northern Arizona could still see snow during stronger systems, though snow levels are expected to remain higher than average.

In the high country near Flagstaff, Payson, and the Mogollon Rim, warmer air may limit snowfall to higher terrain while allowing rain or a rain-snow mix at lower elevations. These fluctuations could lead to changing travel conditions along Interstates 17 and 40 during passing systems.

The warmer setup offers a temporary break from colder winter weather and hints at early spring conditions across the desert Southwest. Transportation officials advise drivers to remain alert during rain events, particularly in urban areas prone to slick roads and localized flooding.

Forecasters stress that while the pattern leans milder, winter is not over. Additional shifts remain possible later in the month. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates as precipitation timing becomes clearer during the February 7–20 window.
