Tucson, Arizona – The desert sky begins to glow orange before sunrise this Veterans Day morning, the air still warm and calm near 63°F. A light southeasterly breeze drifts across the Santa Cruz Valley as Tucson heads for another bright and unseasonably warm November day.

According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, highs will climb toward 88°F this afternoon, nearly 10 degrees above average. Sunshine dominates through midweek, keeping southern Arizona dry and comfortable for outdoor events and parades. Winds remain light, with only a few clouds drifting in late Tuesday into Wednesday.

But this calm stretch won’t last much longer. By Thursday night, moisture from a Pacific low begins pushing into the state, leading to increasing cloud cover and the season’s first chance of measurable rain. Friday brings the highest rain potential — around 50% — with isolated thunderstorms and brief downpours possible during the afternoon and evening. The storm could also spark gusty winds and slick roads along I-10 and Route 86, especially during the Friday evening commute.

After the rain clears, temperatures will drop sharply, signaling the first cool-down of the month. Highs slide into the mid-60s by Saturday, with lingering showers tapering off by Sunday morning. The weekend then looks seasonable and calm — a mild follow-up to Friday’s wet and windy spell.

For now, Tucson sits in the calm before the shift — warm, tranquil, and deceptively still, with fall’s first true change on the horizon.
