Phoenix, Ariz. – A weak disturbance passing over Arizona will bring scattered clouds, light showers, and a few isolated thunderstorms to south-central parts of the state Wednesday. Most areas will stay dry, but brief downpours and gusty winds may develop around the Phoenix metro during the morning and afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service office in Phoenix, showers and virga—rain that evaporates before reaching the ground—will be most likely across the higher terrain north and east of the Valley, including Carefree, Fountain Hills, and Apache Junction. A few “rogue” thunderstorms could pop up through early evening, though rainfall totals will remain minimal, generally less than a tenth of an inch.

Drivers may encounter slick roads and reduced visibility during quick bursts of rain or blowing dust. Forecasters say conditions will clear overnight, leading to a return of sunny skies and above-normal warmth late in the week.

No flooding or severe weather is expected, but residents are advised to use caution on wet roads and watch for rapidly changing conditions under passing storms.
