Flagstaff, AZ – Today, much of northern Arizona is experiencing another day of unusually high October temperatures, with Flagstaff forecasted to hit 80°F. Prescott will be even warmer, reaching 87°F, and residents in Camp Verde should prepare for highs near 96°F. However, cooler conditions are on the horizon for the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service, the heat wave will start to taper off by Saturday, with highs in Flagstaff dropping to the mid-70s and cooling further on Sunday. Winds from the south-southwest, reaching 10-20 mph, may cause some local disruptions on highways, including I-17, as gusts could increase to 18 mph later in the day.

Prepare for Sudden Weather Shifts Tomorrow

Residents should plan accordingly, especially for outdoor activities. While today will remain sunny with calm conditions, tomorrow’s forecast brings increased winds up to 23 mph, which could impact visibility and driving conditions in some areas. For those traveling through Flagstaff or neighboring towns like Winslow and Prescott, securing loose outdoor objects and preparing for sudden temperature changes will be important.

By Sunday, expect the cooldown to continue, with Flagstaff’s high dropping to 74°F. Nights throughout the weekend will see lows in the 40s, making it ideal to prepare for colder evening conditions.
