Tucson, Arizona – Arizona’s desert heat is intensifying as Tucson soars to 100°F today, with Thursday expected to top out at a scorching 103°F. That heat could put stress on residents, travelers, and infrastructure just ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, light winds and abundant sunshine will dominate the next few days, sending temperatures soaring across Pima County. Afternoon highs will push well into the triple digits through Friday, peaking Thursday. Conditions remain dry, with overnight lows only dipping into the mid-60s—offering little relief from daytime heat.
Drivers along I-10, especially between Tucson and Marana, should prepare for high cabin temperatures and increased tire blowout risk. Avoid peak-hour travel between 3–6 p.m. when pavement temps can exceed 150°F. Stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
Looking ahead, Saturday will bring a slight dip to 96°F before rebounding again into the upper 90s through Memorial Day. Sunny skies continue into next week with no rain in sight. This marks the season’s first extended heat event and may challenge those without adequate cooling.
With holiday travel beginning as early as Friday, residents are urged to plan for heat-related delays and take precautions now. NWS says no heat advisories have been issued yet but could be considered if conditions worsen.
