Tucson, Arizona – Scorching summer heat is taking hold across southern Arizona this week, with Tucson climbing to a blistering 100°F by Wednesday and a forecasted 103°F on Thursday.
According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, Monday begins sunny with a high near 88°F. But temperatures will rise sharply, reaching 95°F on Tuesday and hitting triple digits for multiple days starting Wednesday. Northwesterly winds between 12 and 17 mph Monday morning could cause brief crosswind issues along I-10 and I-19.
Clear skies and rising temperatures through midweek will increase heat risk, particularly for outdoor workers, children, and older adults. Stay indoors during peak hours (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.), drink plenty of water, and never leave pets or children in vehicles. With overnight lows lingering in the low-60s, limited cooling relief is expected.
Tucson International Airport will see sunny skies through Thursday, making it ideal for air travel, but road travel across Pima County may be affected by surface heat and vehicle stress. Winds will calm Tuesday, but hot pavement could still create tire blowout risk during afternoon hours.
The five-day outlook remains consistently hot:
- Wednesday: Sunny, 100°F high, 65°F low
- Thursday: Sunny, peak at 103°F
- Friday: High near 101°F, partly cloudy overnight
- Saturday: Sunny, high of 98°F
- Sunday: Clear skies, 97°F high
